ABOUT US
Hello! I’m Dr. Connie Medling, veterinarian, and owner of Pet Country Housecall Veterinary Services. I attended East Central College in Union, MO and the University of Missouri in Columbia for undergraduate studies, and received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002.
After working as an associate veterinarian in both private and corporate practices and shelter medicine in the Sullivan area and St Louis, I realized the time was right to start my own practice in 2013 and “go mobile,” bringing quality veterinary services to clients’ homes. It has always been my desire to provide exceptional and compassionate care for pets and their owners and the opportunity for everyone to have access to convenient and affordable veterinary services.
In December 2018 I purchased a Laboit state-of-the-art 26 ft mobile veterinary clinic and now offer surgical and dental procedures and digital radiography!
My husband, Richard, and I share our home with 2 dogs, Huck and Lucy, and our cat, Toby.
Since February 2020 and the start of new COVID-19 protocols, my husband, Rich, has graciously stepped in as my assistant. He has always been an integral part of Pet Country and our patients love him!
We are so excited to have Virtual VetTechs as part of our team! Rhianne, Chrissy, and Jenica are wonderful, personable, and knowledgeable licensed veterinary technicians that will take good care of you when you call, schedule housecalls, and answer your questions and concerns.
Rhianne Hallows
Virtual Veterinary Technician
I’m Rhianne! I have been working as a Registered Veterinary Technologist since 2014. Not long after beginning my career, I took an interest in veterinary nutrition and the impact it has on our pet’s general health & well-being. This resulted in creating a nutrition consulting service for pet parents, The Bowl Half Full. Along with my nutrition knowledge, I’m a compassionate caregiver. I understand the human-animal bond and work alongside the pet parent to reach a decision on their pet’s needs. In my downtime, I enjoy cuddles with my own “fur family”. This includes a miniature Goldendoodle (Kevin), two cats (Clark & Teeka) and a Chinese dwarf hamster (Primrose). When not indulging in reality TV with my husband, I enjoy painting, reading, and taking care of houseplants
Chrissy Welton
Virtual Veterinary Technician
My name is Christine. I most often go by Chrissy. As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in the veterinary field. I graduated from the veterinary assistant program at St. Lawrence college in 2004. However, there was one thing that my family and I were worried about and that was my sensitivity to blood and needles. While working as an assistant after graduation, I realized I had a real passion for the technician part of the job as well. I was slowly able to work through my sensitivity to needles and blood. I then continued on to become a technician graduating in 2009. I have never loved or enjoyed anything so much. I knew this was what I had to do and have never been swayed in any other direction. I have been working in clinics since 2004 and absolutely love it. I have learned so much and met many great people and fur friends. I really enjoy working in the clinic but I am very excited to start this new adventure. I am definitely looking forward to being able to still work as a veterinary technician from home.
I have a love and passion for dance. My favourite would be belly dancing which is something I love to teach and perform. Playing volleyball and spending time outdoors are also things I enjoy when not working. I love kayaking and spending time at a pool or beach. I am looking forward to spending more time with my daughter and not traveling 2 hours a day to and from work.
I was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley. This area is so beautiful and I am surrounded by family. I could not imagine living anywhere else. I myself have had my share of fur babies. Currently, I have an 11 1/2 year old English Bulldog. She has quite the personality. I also have 2 cats Storm and Charlie. Charlie was rescued from the side of the road 9 years ago when he was just a few weeks old and needed to have his front leg amputated. I don’t think there is any technician that can work in the veterinary field and not bring home an animal that has been brought into the clinic without a home and needing help.
Jenica Veley
Virtual Veterinary Technician
My name is Jenica Veley. I have been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 2008. I grew up with a Veterinarian mother who taught me a love of all things animal since I was young. I have worked with everything from mice to horses and have even gotten to observe an elephant evaluation. I love helping people and their furrier family members honour, celebrate and develop the bond they share however that looks.
Outside of work, I am a mom to three incredible kiddos that make me so proud then quickly drive me bonkers, usually on the same day. I have an oversized dog named Skyy and a guinea pig named Golden Peanut (guess what colour he is!) I love puzzles and spending time with my friends and family (kids are always invited).
